There are numerous adverse effects of crash dieting including short-term weight loss, dehydration, nutritional deprivation, leading to long- term health problems, etc.

People follow it to achieve rapid weight loss and the diet is almost similar to starvation. Significantly, the term in particular implies a lack of concern for proper nutrition. This form of dieting is neither healthy nor successful in achieving long term weight loss as it provokes a slowdown of the metabolism rate. Some initial weight is often lost; the weight is usually regained quickly in the weeks that follow. This is because the individual reverts to their original diet. You could be fooled into thinking that crash diets will give you a quick fix solution to lose weight.
